Relevant control measures for campus general waste and recyclables (during summer vacation)

mportunities from THU Environmental Security Division--

Dear Colleagues:

We thank you for what you have done for the common good in terms of recycling. However, we regretfully still found a few cases where recycling is glaringly ignored. Here are the measures for the summer vacation. We thank you for your cooperation and apologize for the necessary inconvenience!

One. The Municipal WenSan Garbage Incinerator has been strict on checking every garbage bag. If iron, glass, plastic, or aluminum is found in any bag, the whole bin of garbage collection will be returned, b besides marking fining points and decrease our garbage disposal quota. This is no joking matter! Please recycle!

Two. THU does not take outside residents’ garbage or any garbage placed outside the garbage collection bin. Surveillance Cameras have been set to monitor any breaches. If the violator is found to be a THU staff member, the violation will be filed for the record that may affect the annual evaluation.

Three. Opening hours for smaller and larger garbage bins:

1. Starting from July 13 (Monday) at Administration and Teaching Areas, disposal garbage bins open/unlocked every Tuesday and Thursday 15:00—16:00

2. Smaller garbage bins available at: Architecture Building, College of Agriculture, Basic Science Building, and College of Management.

3. Recycling bins are unlocked at all times. But if disposal garbage is found in there, measures will be taken.

4. Recycling instruction.

(a) disposals include soiled tissues, wipes, or maxi pads; plastic cups, rubber bands, straws, bones.

(The following items in (b) SHOULD NOT be in the disposal garbage)

(b) magazines, newspapers, cartons, paper cups, foil packages, and containers (as for lunch boxes). Please rinse and flatten them before recycling.

(c) Plastic bottles, caps, containers, and nets, preferably flattened.

(d) Glass bottles and containers.

(e) iron and aluminum.

(f) kitchen waste: leftovers, overdue food, cut-off raw ingredients for swill.

(g) foliage, twigs, vegetable leaves, and peels.

5. Only soiled tissues and maxi pads go into the garbage cans in the toilets lest there be flies and odor. Please recycle food/drink containers (biandong boxes) at recycling bins.

6. For large size items to be done with, please contact extension 30104, Mr. Lin, YanTing (林彥廷).

7. Please notify all of the above. Signatures indicating having read the notice are required. If not possible, please hit reply of this emailed message.
